Animated Ads: A Guide to Length, Speed, and Format
Animation Length
Animated ads on Google Display Network (GDN) must be 30 seconds or shorter. This is to ensure that ads are concise and engaging, and do not overwhelm users with excessive animation.
Animation Speed
Animated ads must be slower than 5 frames per second (FPS). This is to avoid creating animations that are too fast and jarring for users.
Animation Format
GIFs are the preferred format for animated image ads on GDN. Other formats, such as PNG sequences, can also be used, but they must be converted to GIFs before uploading to Google Ads.
Animated vs. Responsive Ads
Animated ads are not responsive, meaning they will not automatically adjust their size or aspect ratio to fit different ad placements. Responsive ads, on the other hand, can automatically resize and reformat to fit any ad placement, making them more versatile for campaigns with multiple ad sizes.
